He is the first cricketer of Caribbean descent to be appointed captain of Kent Men's Club.

On being appointed club captain, Bell-Drummond said: “It is an absolute honor and privilege to be club captain of Kent Cricket.”

“It’s now my job to captain Kent Cricket into a new season alongside the rest of the playing squad and that’s a challenge I’m looking forward to.”

“I’m looking forward to working with Simon Cook and Matt Walker and shaping this team to be competitive on all fronts, but also ensuring that this ethos spreads to our age group squads with the help of our fantastic pathway coaches.”

"I would like to thank Sam Billings for his six years as an outstanding club captain and of course I will work closely with Sam as he continues to be a leader in the dressing room. "This is a team sport and everyone will play their part.

“To Kent members and supporters – we will both have good times and I’m sure there will be difficult times too, but we will get through it all together.”

“We will try to get going in 2024 and that will start with pre-season training in the new year. Before we all know it, it will be April and it will be time to wear the Kent shirt with pride again.”
