South Africa bounced back as they got 31 run lead after the 2nd day of second test. Five fer for Dane Piedt helped South Africa bundle New Zealand for a paltry 211 and have a lead of 31 runs.
Earlier, Tim Southee trimmed the tail properly to wrap up South Africa's innings for just 242 runs. Coming out to bat, New Zealand had a strong first hour. Conway had a 3 ball duck. But Tom Latham and Kane Williamson saw the initial phase properly. The duo added 74 runs to the tally before D Piedt took the wicket of Latham for 40 off 104 balls. While Kane Williamson scored 43 off 108 deliveries and got out to D Piedt.
After the departure of these two, things became turbulent for New Zealand. The kiwis lost quick wickets in the middle and D Piedt teared apart the New Zealand batting lineup. Rachin Ravindra contributed with his vital 29 runs, while Will Young scored important 36 runs for New Zealand but no one was able to make their innings longer.
At the backend of the innings, Neil Wagner's quick-fire 33 off only 27 balls helped Kiwis cruise pass 200 mark barrier. D Piedt's inspiring spell showing the hope for Proteas. South Africa now have a vital 31 run lead, which will help to build their innings in the second innings.
