Punjab Kings have beaten Delhi Capitals by 4 wickets. Brilliant bowling from Arshdeep Singh and Hershel Patel. And a match turning 67 from Sam Curran and flying finishing from Liam Livingstone crashed DC to hand PBKS a thumping win.
Sam Curran and Liam Livingstone, two Englishmen behind PBKS' first win of the season.
Chasing 175, Shikhar Dhawan and Jonny Bairstow started off with a flurry and had a stand of 34 runs but both of them went back to the hut in quick succession. Then Sam Curran at number 4 and the impact player Prabhsimran shared a nice little stand for the third wicket. It was DC who didn’t help themselves as their dropped catches were costliest for them. Sam Curran was dropped on 33 and at the end Harpreet Bear by David Warner.
Curran then smacked a match winning 63 off 47 balls. Khaleel Ahmed brought DC back with two wickets in the penultimate over but Liam Livingstone had other ideas, he easily won it for PBKS and were unbeaten on 38* off 21 balls.
Earlier, after being inserted to bat first, DC started well with 39 being scored with the opening pair consists of Marsh and Warner. But their departure slowed down DC's scoring rate. Rishabh Pant after coming back to Cricket for 1 and a half years couldn’t long his innings and went cheaply for 19 off 13 balls. Top order didn’t ignite fire and couldn’t prolong their starts, which hurt DC most. At one point, DC were crumbling on 111-5.
But some late blitz from Axar Patel and Abishek Porel helped them went for scoring big. Abishek Porel raced his way to 32 off only 10 balls, while Patel made a serious 21 off just 13 balls to help DC post 174 on the board. Which ultimately proved to be measly for PBKS.
