The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have ignited speculation among fans about their potential interest in signing Bangladeshi all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan for the upcoming IPL season. A mysterious social media post from the franchise hints at the possibility, leaving fans buzzing with anticipation.

Ahead of the IPL mega auction, CSK has invited fans to pick their dream squad of 25 players via the team's official website. To promote this initiative, CSK shared a graphic featuring Ravindra Jadeja alongside the silhouette of another spin all-rounder, which fans quickly identified as Shakib Al Hasan.

While the post doesn't confirm anything, the subtle clue has led many to believe that CSK might be planning to bring Shakib into their camp, especially after releasing Mustafizur Rahman, who was pivotal for them in the last IPL season.

Although Shakib Al Hasan went unsold in the last IPL auction, his track record in the tournament speaks volumes. Over the years, he has: Played 71 matches, scoring 793 runs and taking 63 wickets. Won two IPL titles with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in 2012 and 2014. Represented KKR in 2011-2017 and 2021, as well as Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2018 and 2019.

Shakib listed himself for the IPL 2024 auction with a base price of ₹1 crore. Despite stepping away from international T20 cricket, he remains active in franchise leagues worldwide and could be a valuable asset for CSK, providing depth in batting and bowling.

CSK’s Current Retained Players

Before the auction, CSK retained five players: Ruturaj Gaikwad,, Ravindra Jadeja, Matheesha Pathirana, Shivam Dube and MS Dhoni.

With a focus on balancing their squad, CSK might see Shakib as an ideal complement to Jadeja, further strengthening their spin and middle-order capabilities.
