Chennai Super Kings are the five-time champions of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Chennai won the title in the last edition as well. MS Dhoni's team Chennai has added Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman to the team for the next season.

Mustafizur has been the regular face of IPL for several years now. After a dream start in Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2016, Mustafizur will play for Chennai after playing for Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals in the previous seasons. The current champions brought him to the team at a base price of Rs 2 crore. Many were interested in why the cutter master was included in the team. Kasi Viswanathan, CEO of Chennai Super Kings has revealed that reason.

Speaking at the Junior Super Kings opening ceremony recently, Kasi said, "I would say we pretty much got all of our targets. We were planning for Daryl Mitchell. We thought Mustafizur Rahman would be a good bet at our Chepauk wicket, with the side boundary. These were our thoughts but we were not sure whether we would be able get them. Luckily, it turned out to be a good auction for us this time."

Apart from Mustafizur, Chennai has brought in several star cricketers from the auction. Chennai has also included India's pace bowling all-rounder Shardul Thakur along with Daryl Mitchell and Rachin Ravindra who did well in the ODI World Cup.
