Brydon Carse, a right-arm fast bowler, has been added to England's World Cup 2023 roster as a substitute for Reece Topley, a pace bowler who sustained an injury.

Carse is scheduled to arrive in Bangalore before England's match against Sri Lanka on Thursday, but it is highly doubtful that he would be considered for selection because it has been four weeks since he last played in a competitive game. After making an impression in the Twenty20 International series, he was given a spot in one of England's four One-Day International matches against New Zealand last month. In addition, he played for England's second-string team when they faced Ireland.

Wasim Khan (ICC General Manager - Cricket and ETC Chair), Chris Tetley (ICC Head of Events), Hemang Amin (Acting CEO - BCCI), Gaurav Saxena (General Manager - Operations, BCCI), Russel Arnold, and Simon Doull (Independent Representatives) approved the addition of Carse to the England squad.

Notably, Reece Topley boarded a flight back to the United Kingdom on Monday, and the European Cricket Board has stated that the England and County side, Surrey's medical teams would be responsible for the pacer's recovery.

Following their humiliating defeat at the hands of South Africa by 229 runs, the English team left Mumbai on Sunday afternoon to make their way to Bengaluru.
