It's been a barren run so far for Royal Challengers Bangaluru in this season of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Barring Virat Kohli, the batting lineup has been insipid for RCB.
Will JacksVirat Kohli single handedly is carrying RCB as he contributed around 38% of the team's runs, gaining the Orange Cap as a reward as well. But the Aussie all rounders duo - Glenn Maxwell and Cameron Green misfired this season, with Maxwell having two ducks this season with a highest score of 28, striking just 106.67 per over. On the other hand, Cameron Green averages 17, striking at 107.94. While, the Englishmen Will Jacks warming the bench without being picked for a single time this season, who strikes at 164.21 per over in the powerplay, best among the batters who faced 1000 balls atleast. Tom Moody thinks it's Maxwell and Green who are under pressure with the presence of Will Jacks in the squad.
"RCB have to seriously consider Will Jacks," Tom Moody said on ESPNcricinfo's 'T20: Time-Out'. "How they fit him in is a discussion that needs to be had. I can't se him coming in for Faf. To me, both Maxwell and Green are under pressure."
"I think your hand is forced. You can't have a potential resource in your squad and not press the trigger particularly when you're in the position you're in now. If you don't do it now, when will you do it? Your season's already gone. I'd back Faf and Virat to open and put Will Jacks at No. 3."
Royal Challengers Bangaluru's next assignment is wobbling Mumbai Indians on 11th April in an away game affair.
