England skipper Ben Stokes has praised his team's dominant and aggressive approach following their historic series win in New Zealand, marking their first away victory at the Basin Reserve in 14 years. The visitors sealed the three-match series 2-0 with a commanding 323-run win in the second Test.

Reflecting on the achievement during the post-match presentation, Stokes highlighted the key strategies that led to their success. He expressed satisfaction with the depth of talent emerging within the team, especially as they prepare for next year’s Ashes series.

"To play the more dominant cricket over the days we have played so far," Stokes said when asked about how the team achieved their first away win in New Zealand in 16 years. The all-rounder emphasized the team’s resilience, particularly during the opening day of the Test.

"In this Test in particular, on day one we were 43 for 4 to be here on the winning side on day three is quite phenomenal. We got bowled out in fifty overs (54.5) but we had 270 runs on the board, which was a good score on that day one-wicket, and then we obviously had time left with the ball to be able to make some inroads," Stokes explained. He added that England's ability to take five wickets by the end of day one (New Zealand closing on 86 for 5) set the foundation for their victory.

Stokes also commended the team's ability to change the course of games, particularly with their batting approach. "We back ourselves to be able to go out there and change games... There needs to be a bit of impetus put into the game, particularly with the bat," he said.

Stokes further praised individual performances, crediting Harry Brook and Ollie Pope for their efforts on the opening day, which turned the game in England's favor. "Amazing to be standing here winning the series after being 40 for 4 on day one. The way Harry Brook and Ollie Pope played on day one set up this game for us."

He also hailed Jacob Bethell for his impactful performances, stating, "Jacob Bethell has certainly shown us what he's about and shown the world what he's about."
