Leg spinners are now dominant in T20 cricket. There are four leg-spinners in the top 10 of ICC Rankings. However, there is no place for any leg-spinner in Bangladesh's XI. Even the Asia Cup squad has no leg-spinners.
But it is sure that Bangladesh will have to face the challenge of leg spin against any team in the Asia Cup including Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan.
Keeping this in mind, leg-spinner Rishad Hossain will fly to the venue of the Asia Cup in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as a net bowler. This has been confirmed to BDCricTime by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). Rishad will stay with the team till August 30 and participate in the training.
According to team source, “Bangladesh team will play the first match in the Asia Cup on August 30. Till then Rishad will be with the team. His presence will add variety to practice and help prepare for games against leg spinners.”
The Bangladesh team left the country for the Asia Cup on August 23. However, opener Anamul Haque Bijoy and pacer Taskin Ahmed could not go with the team due to visa complications. Rishad is scheduled to fly to the UAE, the venue of the Asia Cup, today.
