Babar Azam breaks record for smashing most international hundreds in 2022

Babar Azam was chasing records, especially in the longest format of the game. The Pakistan captain added a feather to his already bulky cap in the ongoing first friendly against England at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
Pakistani skipper Babar Azam has been breaking records in recent years by showing consistent performances across all formats. While making 10,000 and 11,000 international runs this year, Babar managed to put another feather in his cap in the current first friendly against England at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
While Azam recorded another delicious century and also completed 1000 Test runs at home, the 28-year-old also managed to break a unique record by smashing the most tons in international cricket in 2022.
The Pakistan captain passed England batsman Jonny Bairstow to lead the 2022 tally with seven centuries to his name. The daring England batsman has six tons in international cricket this year.
Pakistani batter Imam-ul-Haq and former England Test skipper Joe Root have each registered five centuries, while Australian Test opener Usman Khawaja has four tons to his name.

Thus, the Pakistan captain at seven centuries this year surpassed England batting sensation Jonny Bairstow's total tally of six tons in 2022. Apart from those two, Babar's teammate Imam-ul-Haq and former England Test skipper Joe Root have each registered five centuries The Australian test starter Usman Khawaja has four tons to his credit.
In addition to those seven tons, Azam also managed to register 14 half centuries this year. In that game (1st Test v England) Babar hit 136 runs from 168 deliveries as Pakistan is close to breaking the 500 run mark in response to England's first innings totaling 657 from a perfectly flat wicket.
Coming back to the Rawalpindi test match, Pakistan finished 499/7 on Day 3 and still trail by 158 runs. The hosts would look to reduce their deficit and break England's first innings lead when play resumes on Sunday 4 December.
