Vivo is currently out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) due to political unrest. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is therefore looking for a new title sponsor for this year's IPL. Baba Ramdev-led Patanjali likely to bid for IPL title sponsorship

Patanjali wants to use this opportunity. Yoga guru Baba Ramdev's company wants to be the title sponsor of IPL. Baba Ramdev has built a huge empire in India with Ayurveda and Yoga. The company wants to get involved with the IPL to spread the identity of its organization worldwide. Patanjali's spokesperson SK Tijarawala told the Economic Times,

“We are considering the IPL title sponsorship for this year, since we want to give the Patanjali brand a global marketing platform.”

Analysts believe that Vivo's withdrawal from the IPL could be a source of joy for Patanjali to be a sponsor. Because, being an organization that is completely dependent on local products, being able to sponsor a big tournament like IPL sends a big message. But brand analyst Harish Bijoor's view is that sponsoring Patanjali does not bring much benefit to the IPL. In the context of nationalism, sponsoring such an organization may have a positive effect, because now the tide of anti-China is flowing in the country. In 2018, Vivo sponsored the IPL title with a contract worth Rs 440 crore a year. For the time being, the organization has withdrawn from the IPL this year due to border tensions between India and China. However, they have the potential to return next year. As a result, the board agreed to a 50 percent discount to find a sponsor for this year alone. So far, Geo, Amazon, Tata, Dream 11, Adani Group and Byju's have been considered for sponsors.
