Bangladesh U-19 have thrashed Afghanistan U-19 to begin the Asia Cup 2024 journey. Skipper Azizul Hakim's sensational 103 steered Bangladesh to 228 runs. In reply, three wickets from Al Fahad and Iqbal Hossain Emon helped the young tigers get a 45-run victory.

Being inserted to bat first, opener Zawad Abrar was removed for a five-ball duck. Other opener Kalam Siddiki and captain Azizul Hakim then stitched up a superb 142-run stand, which changed the course of the entire match.

But Allah Ghazanfar knocked over Kalam Siddiki on his 66 off 110 balls but Azizul Hakim brought up an excellent hundred. The fall of these duo brought a devastating collapse for the Bangladesh U-19 team and they managed to get 228 on the board.

In reply, Rafi Uzzaman and Maruf Mridha brought bowled superbly to remove Afghanistan's openers cheaply. But Faisal Khan Ahmadzai stood tall and scored a fine knock of 58 off 58 balls but Al Fahad trapped him LBW.

Afghanistan then had a wicket surge and lost a lot of wickets in the middle with Bangladesh was bowling incredibly well to restrict them for only 183 runs. Al Fahad and Iqbal Hossain Emon shared three wickets to help Bangladesh get a superb 45-run win over Afghanistan to begin the U-19 Asia Cup 2024.
