Another major change in the coaching staff of the Pakistan cricket team. Former country all-rounder Azhar Mahmood has been named as the head coach of the Pakistan cricket team for the upcoming five-match Twenty20 series against New Zealand. Saeed Ajmal and Mohammad Yusuf have also joined the coaching staff.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in a press statement confirmed the appointment of Azhar Mahmood as the head coach. Azhar Mahmood has represented Pakistan in 164 international matches. In which he took 162 wickets and scored 2421 runs. Azhar also previously worked with the Pakistan Men's Cricket Team from 2016-2019. At that time he was the bowling coach of the Pakistan team.
Mohammad Yusuf will serve as batting coach in this upcoming series. Moreover, Saeed Ajmal, who was recently in charge of the bowling coach during the tour of Australia and New Zealand, has been nominated to serve as the spin bowling coach. Selector Wahab Riaz has got a new responsibility. He has been appointed as Senior Team Manager.
Pakistan will play New Zealand in a five-match series in Rawalpindi and Lahore in April. The series will start on April 18 and end on April 27. This is a preparatory series for Pakistan's World Cup ahead of the T20 World Cup. However, many of the regular players of the New Zealand team will not come for this tour.
