Australia to face South Africa in second semi-final on November 16

The two teams of the second semi-final of the World Cup have been finalized. Currently, South Africa and Australia are in second place in the points table.
The place where the semi-final matches will be held has already been finalized. According to the rules, the first-placed team in the points table will face the fourth-placed team in the semi-finals. The second and third-placed teams in the points table will compete in the second semi-final.
The host nation, India has already secured the semis. India is at the top of the points table after winning 8 matches in a row. Who they will play against in the semi-final is not yet certain. But who will play in the second semi-final will be finalized after Australia's match against Afghanistan on Tuesday.
Currently, South Africa and Australia have played 8 matches each. Both teams have equal number of wins, 6. That is why these two teams will fight in the second semi-final of the tournament on November 16 in Kolkata.
However, Australia had to lose to South Africa in the group stage match. Batting first, the Proteas scored 311 runs in Lucknow. In response, Australia were all-out for just 177 runs.
On the other hand, the first semi-final match will be held on November 15 at Wankhede in Mumbai. New Zealand, Pakistan, and Afghanistan are in the race for the fourth place.
