The historic Australia vs Afghanistan one-off Test match has been delayed by a year, Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) confirms.
Appreciations pouring on Afghanistan winning big against Bangladesh
The match will take place in November 2021, after the final of ICC T20 World Cup in India. The venue is yet to be finalised.
"Australia are a strong Test team and we are looking forward to facing them in the Test match in 2021. Unfortunately due to COVID-19 the Test was delayed but we are glad that it will finally take place," ACB CEO Rahmatullah Quraishi told

. Previously, the Test was scheduled for November 2020, making Perth the venue. But the global pandemic forced the match to postpone albeit India are touring the country for three ODIs, three T20Is and four Tests. Australia and Afghanistan have faced each other thrice in ODIs with former winning all of them. In 2012, the two teams met for the first time in Sharjah where Michael Clarke's Australia won by 66 runs. Afghanistan took hammering defeats in the 2015 and 2019 World Cups - by 275 runs in Perth and 7 wickets in Bristol. Since earning the Test status, Afghanistan have played four Test matches. They tasted the first victory in only their second-ever game, beating another newbie Ireland by 7 wickets in Dehradun in March 2019. The most famous win came in the same year against Bangladesh, whom they thrashed by 224 runs in Chattogram in September. Afghanistan have not played a Test since November 2019. Their last outing in whites was against
in Lucknow. They lost that game by 9 wickets. Afghanistan (57 points) are technically the ninth-ranked Test team, above No.10 Bangladesh (55). However, Afghanistan do not weigh enough matches to be on the table which eventually makes Bangladesh the ninth.
