Several cricketers contributed to the victory of the Bangladesh U19 team in the Asia Cup. But one of the brightest prospects was Ariful Islam. The most experienced cricketer of the current team played in the 2022 U19 World Cup. Ariful was brilliant with a couple of centuries even though team did not do well. This time he is going to play another World Cup to become the highest run-scorer.

Having played in the 2022 U19 World Cup, Ariful has a rich World Cup record. 215 runs in just 4 innings, average above fifty, two centuries, strike rate 81.13. He was also brilliant in the recently concluded Asia Cup, winning the team the title. However, he does not want to feel satisfied after winning the Asia Cup, because the dream of regaining the World Cup is in front of him.

He told BDCricTime, “Asia Cup went well Alhamdulillah. We want to play better cricket now. We want to play normal cricket. Those who play well on a given day will win. The goal is to be able to play good cricket on the days of our matches.”

Ariful refuses to see South African conditions or opponents as a challenge. He also told about personal goals. He added,  “Cricket is challenging. Enjoy and try to play the best cricket. There is no challenge. My goal is definitely to be the player of the tournament by scoring highest runs.”
