All round performance from UAE aids them thump New Zealand for the first time in international Cricket
Aayn Afaz Khan's brilliant bowling followed by some exceptional batting from Muhammad Waseem and Asif Khan saw them win their maiden international victory over New Zealand.

United Arab Emirates thumped New Zealand by 7 wickets with 23 balls to spare on Sunday (20th August). Aayn Afaz Khan's brilliant bowling followed by some exceptional batting from Muhammad Waseem and Asif Khan saw them win their maiden international victory over New Zealand.
Earlier the day, United Arab Emirates won the toss and they elected to bowl first. After being put into bat first, New Zealand had a barren start. Courtesy some great display of new ball bowling from Aayan Khan. He got rid of Chad Bowes, Mitchell Santner and Cleaver for cheaply and left New Zealand stuttering for 38-4. The previous match's hero Cole McConhie couldn’t get going as he made only 9 off 14 deliveries.
However after the brutal storm from UAE, New Zealand got their tempo with Mark Chapman got his hands. Chapman started to cash on loose deliveries and got some aid from James Neesham as well. The duo added 53 runs at 6th wicket partnership before Neesham saw himself in the hands of Muhammad Waseem for 21 off 17 balls.
After the departure of Neesham, Chapman single handedly took the game on with his ominous hitting. Chapman made a fantastic 63 off only 46 deliveries with a brilliant strike rate of 136.97. With the help of his innings New Zealand posted only 142-8 after alloted 20 overs.
In reply of 143, UAE lost their opener for a 3 ball duck as Southee got rid of Aryansh Sharma. But the brilliant partnership between Muhammad Waseem and Aravind kept them hunting, the duo added 40 runs before Aravind got out. However Asif Khan again built up a brilliant partnership with Waseem. This time they added an indomitable 56 runs which kicked New Zealand out of the match. Waseem scored a glorious 55 off 29 deliveries with a jaw dropping strike rate of 189.66.
After the departure of Waseem Asif Khan took the charge and he finished the game nicely and he was unbeaten on 48 off only 29 balls. This the maiden win for UAE over New Zealand. With the win they levelled the series by 1-1.
