England have crashed New Zealand by 284 runs to clinch the Test series with one game to go. Harry Brook's sublime hundred in the fiest innings and Joe Root's 36th Test hundred in the second innings with pacers stepping up at crucial time helped the Englishmen take the series.

Joe Root started the day superbly scoring his 36th Test hundred. Once he got out on 106, England declared their innings despite their captain Ben Stokes was strangled on 49*. England, however, had a mammoth lead on their back, 582.

In reply, Chris Woakes uprooted the stumps of Devon Conway for a five-ball duck. Chris Woakes then again had Kane Williamson as New Zealand were stuttering on 25-2.

Brydon Carse came in and removed Rachin Ravindra cheaply. Skipper Tom Latham scored 24 off 35 balls before falling to Brydon Carse. Daryl Mitchell made 32 off 70 balls but couldn’t score big.

New Zealand lost half of their side on 106 but then Tom Blundell stood tall and smashed a hard-fought hundred to keep fighting for his country.

He found Nathan Smith as his partner but the target was too big for them to chase.
New Zealand were all-out for 259 runs and lost the game by 323 runs. Ben Stokes picked up three wickets, while Shoaib Bashir, Brydon Carse and Chris Woakes had two wickets each.
