An intriguing day of Test Cricket have come to an end. Opting to bat first, the Kiwis managed to get 235 runs on the back of Daryl Mitchell and Will Young's 82 and 71 respectively. While India too lost four wickets before the stumps.
New Zealand chose to bat first but they didn't have a solid way to start to their innings.

Akash Deep removed Devon Conway cheaply. And then skipper Tom Latham and Will Young stitched a 44-run stand before Washington Sundar knocked over Latham for 28 off 44 balls. Sundar then chopped on Rachin Ravindra and New Zealand were in all sorts of trouble.

However, it was Daryl Mitchell and Will Young's crucial 87-run stand which turned out as a game-changing partnership. Young fell to Jadeja after a solid 71. Mitchell then steered the ship with lower order and brought up his own fifty and scored 82 off 129 balls to help the visitors post 235 on the board.

Ravindra Jadeja was the pick of the bowlers as he picked up five wickets, while Washington Sundar had four wickets to his name.

In reply, India started off to a flier, with Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal added 25 runs inside 6 overs before Matt Henry removed Rohit for 18 off 18. Shubman Gill and Jaiswal then had a blasting 53-run stand and helped India cruising before Ajaz Patel knocked Jaiswal over.

Mohammad Siraj was bowled out by Ajaz and Virat Kohli was gone by a run-out and all of a sudden India lost four wickets to reduce to 86-4.
