A big question mark hangs over Tamim Iqbal's international career. A lot has happened since announcing his sudden retirement last year. Tamim did not play in the ODI World Cup when he returned to the game on the call of the honorable Prime Minister.
Tamim played for Fortune Barishal in the recently concluded BPL and won the title. Tamim's international career was questioned in the press conference after the team won the final match.
In the press conference, Tamim said, “Jalal (Yunus) bhai had a conversation with me. I was ready to negotiate. I was supposed to sit down. We have contact. I am leaving the country again tomorrow. Upon arrival, we hope to be seated. One thing I want to tell you is that a lot of things have to be right for me to come back. Otherwise, there is no point in coming back and just playing. Because I'm at a point in my career I'll play maybe 2 years. These things must be discussed with them.”
Apart from this, Tamim said that his fitness is much better now, "Physically, I was in a better condition during the World Cup. Now you can see a small stomach. It would be unethical not to talk to them. A lot of things have to be right here for me to come back.”
Fortune Barishal won the BPL title for the first time after defeating Comilla Victorians by 6 wickets in the final.
