The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Thursday announced the 30-member Bangladesh preliminary squad for the forthcoming home bilateral series against England in October. While there were some surprise call ups of Shahriar Nafees, Sohrawordi Shuvo and Raqibul Hasan after a long time, there were some major, notable omissions in the squad as well. image

Shamsur Rahman: Shamsur Rahman was the biggest miss in the preliminary and High Performance squads, although he had a terrific season in both first-class and List-A format. The Comilla guy scored 558 runs in 11 matches in the recently concluded Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (DPL).

Shamsur was also the second highest run getter in the National Cricket League (NCL) 2015-16 season with 578 runs including three centuries and was also among the top five run getters in the Bangladesh Cricket League with 508 runs. Overall with 1644 runs, became the highest run scorer of 2015/16 season in the country's domestic circuit

Imtiaz Hossain: The new selection committee headed by Minhajul Abedin Nanny also overlooked Imtiaz Hossain, another consistent run scorer in the domestic tournaments. He was among the top 10 run-getters in the DPL and also was came in third in the NCL batting chart.

Mosharraf Hossain Rubel: Left-arm spinner Mosharraf Hossain Rubel will also feel aggrieved after taking 36 first-class wickets, 16 in the BPL at an average of 10.31 while scoring 350 runs and taking 12 wickets in the BPL. It is hard to match such allround showing in domestic cricket.

Abdur Razzak: Veteran spinner Abdur Razzak, who hasn't played for Bangladesh since 2014, was also missing from the squad. Razzak took 56 first-class wickets in the 2015/16 season, along with 18 wickets in the DPL. But as was the case with the previous chief selector Faruque Ahmed-led selection panel, there hasn't been any interest in Razzak from the Nannu-led selection panel as well.
