With the Young Tigers from Bangladesh on the cusp of history and have a great opportunity to dethrone the defending champions India in the final of the ICC Under-19 World Cup at the Senwes Park in Potchefstroom today, wishes galore from them from the former and national cricketers of the country. The Bangladesh Under-19s have become the first team from the country to enter an ICC event final would be an understatement, as they have done unbeaten as well. They have defeated South Africa and New Zealand convincingly and now, they face the other unbeaten side of the tournament in India. If they can win this crucial contest, a new chapter will be added to Bangladesh's short but already shining history in the game of cricket. Former Bangladesh cricketer Raqibul Hasan, who is widely regarded as the best Bangladeshi batsman of his era, said there are no favourites in the match. "This is a final and here no team is favourite. India are a strong side, but Bangladesh have reached so far playing courageous cricket, So if they can keep up the consistency, I am sensing a great match in the making," said Raqibul. Another former cricketer Shafiqul Haque Hira said, "I reckon we have very bright chance. I see the future of Bangladesh cricket in this team. They have a great team spirit, and this is our biggest strength going into today's final. My best wishes are for them." Former ODI and Test captain Khaled Mahmud Sujon, who got the opportunity to have a close look at the cricketers due to his roles in the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and country's domestic circuit, was also quite hopeful. "There haven't been much changes in this side for last two years. We have played so many matches. We played in conditions like New Zealand and England. So I am very optimistic," he said. Sujon was on point about this side's match playing opportunities. The Young Tigers are the side to have played the most matches after India in the last one and a half years. They had also beaten England and New Zealand in their backyard. Bangladesh senior team's all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz had led Bangladesh U-19s to their first ever semifinals berth in the competition four years ago. He thinks this is a great chance for the youngsters to do what they could not do in the past. "I was very hurt after losing the semifinals on our home soil. But now I am telling Joy [Mahmudul Hasan] and Co. from my own experience, 'you have a great opportunity in front of him. Go and fulfil the dream we could not do'." Meanwhile another member from Miraz's team four years ago, Mohammad Saifuddin expressed his excitement ahead of Sunday's final. "Personally I am very excited, I can feel the heat. This is the first time our team is going to play in the final of an ICC event. It's a very fortunate thing for all of us. I am quite interested to witness the match. Even I saw every single ball of the semifinal from first to last at the academy building (Mirpur)."
