Six year old leg spinner added in Aussie squad for Boxing Day Test

His name is Archie Schiller and he has already joined with the Australian team during the practice sessions ahead of the four match Test series against India. Archie Schiller will be part of the squad for the Boxing Day Test match against the subcontinent giants that will start on December 26 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). Schillar, 6, a leg-spinner who follows living Aussie legend Shane Warne, received his call from Australia head coach Justin Langer and is confidently dreaming to buzz off Indian batting maestro Virat Kohli. Langer called the newest Test member by the time Australia were playing Pakistan in UAE. Reaching Adelaide Oval, he got his Whites for the Australia Test team and has began training with the side since then. The cricket-mad youngster has been suffering from chronic heart disease and has so far been undergone thirteen surgeries, the first of which was done when he was just three months old. He was invited by Cricket Australia as part of an initiative in association with Make-A-Wish, a global non-profit organization that works toward fulfilling the wishes of children diagnosed with critical illnesses. Langer told cricket.com.au,

“I reckon he’ll be treated like (uncapped opener) Marcus Harris – come in for the first time in the change-rooms, meet all the boys and like always when you come into that inner sanctum of the Baggy Green, it’s like joining the brotherhood.

“Archie will be joining the brotherhood. “He’s been through some tough times, spent a lot of time in a hospital bed, so any way that we can help to put a smile on his face, it’s the very least we can do for him. “Just being out on Adelaide Oval, in the sunshine, under a nice blue sky and running around with his heroes – who, to a man, were all really moved by his story – it should be terrific for everyone.” Watch the video here-
