Ravindra Jadeja made history on the first day of the third Test between India and New Zealand in Mumbai by becoming the fifth-highest Indian wicket-taker in Test cricket. Jadeja surpassed Ishant Sharma and Zaheer Khan, placing him behind only Indian bowling legends Anil Kumble, Ravichandran Ashwin, Kapil Dev, and Harbhajan Singh.
After a slow start to the series, Jadeja found his form when India needed him most. He played a key role in dismantling New Zealand's middle order, starting with the crucial wicket of Will Young, who scored 71. Jadeja followed up by dismissing Tom Blundell for a duck, before claiming the wicket of Glenn Phillips to further tilt the game in India's favor. His third wicket of the day came in the 53rd over with a perfectly executed ball aimed at the middle stump, leaving the Kiwis struggling.
Before this match, Ishant Sharma held the fifth position on India's list of all-time wicket-takers with 311 wickets from 188 innings. Jadeja, with his Five-wicket haul, overtook both Ishant and Zaheer Khan to reach 312 wickets in 145 innings.
