Afghanistan international Rashid Khan is a productive lower-order batter who is highly effective in playing cameos for the team. Despite being primarily a bowler, he has perfected the art of using his strong wrists and quick footwork to generate power, thus helping him to find gaps or clear the boundary with relative ease, even against top-notch deliveries.
During the second T20I against Ireland, he hogged the limelight by smashing a no-look six, a shot that took everyone by surprise. Rashid Khan played a blistering cameo as he chipped in with a quickfire 25 off only 12 deliveries. The Afghanistan captain smacked 3 fours and a six during his stay at the crease.
What really pleased the fans was the way in which he executed the no-look shot, which was indeed a sight to behold. He smashed the six off Ireland's paceman Barry McCarthy when the latter bowled a lower full toss ball at stumps. Meanwhile, Rashid Khan smartly hit the ball for a six over deep backward square leg.
The video clip of Rashid Khan's no-look six has been doing the rounds on social media, with scores of netizens coming up with interesting reactions. Soon after he hit the shot, his partner Nangeyalia Kharote was also impressed as he applauded the captain for a magnificent hit.
Batting first, Afghanistan posted 152/9 in their quota of 20 overs. Mohammad Nabi top-scored with 59 off 38 balls including six fours and three sixes. On the contrary, Ireland could muster 142/8 in 20 overs. Rashid Khan led the bowling attack by example as he registered 4/14 in his quota of 4 overs.
Rashid Khan was adjudged the Man of the Match for his all-round performance. "There were brief nervous moments but there are one or two players that come through for you under pressure. Looking forward for the decider," the Afghanistan skipper said at the post-match presentation.
Afghanistan won the game by 10 runs and levelled the series, with the T20I series decider slated to be played on March 18 at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah.
