Sri Lankan opener Pathum Nissanka put on a power-hitting masterclass during the second T20I against West Indies at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium on Tuesday, October 15. In a spectacular over, Nissanka smashed West Indies pacer Shamar Joseph for five consecutive fours, amassing 25 runs and setting the tone for Sri Lanka’s dominant 73-run victory.

The fireworks began in the fourth over of Sri Lanka’s innings when Nissanka launched an assault on Joseph. The opener came down the track and hammered the first ball to the boundary, followed by a lofted shot over extra cover. Joseph's attempts to recover were in vain as Nissanka managed a top edge for another four. The final two deliveries of the over also met the same fate, with Nissanka driving one past backward point and pulling another to the boundary.

Nissanka’s brilliance didn’t end there. He went on to score his 12th T20 half-century, anchoring Sri Lanka’s innings with a 54 off 49 balls. His opening partnership with Kusal Mendis (26) set up a solid 77-run foundation for Sri Lanka’s total of 162/5. Kamindu Mendis also chipped in with a useful 19 lower down the order, ensuring a competitive score.

In reply, the West Indies batting lineup crumbled under the pressure of Sri Lanka’s disciplined bowling. Debutant Dunith Wellalage stole the show with a stunning 3/9, as the visitors were bowled out for just 89 runs in 16.1 overs. Sri Lanka’s comprehensive performance sealed a 73-run victory, securing the series in Dambulla.
