The first Ashes Test match between England and Australia has certainly lived up to the expectations of the fans. Both teams performed well when it mattered the most. However, the hosts slightly had the upper hand over the visitors in the game at Edgbaston in Birmingham. 

Cameron GreenEngland set up a challenging target of 281 for Australia. The Aussies lost three wickets at the end of Day 4, scoring just over 100 runs. Australia lost David Warner, Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne on the fourth day. The fifth and final day saw a delay in the first session due to rain. 

As it turned out, the first session of the final day was cancelled due to showers. Later on, the game resumed as Australian batters started gaining momentum before England produced a breakthrough in the form of Stuart Broad who dismissed Scott Boland for 20 runs. 

Travis Head who was looking dangerous with the bat fell prey to Moeen Ali's bowling. Moeen Ali pitched the ball at the right area which spun sharply and Travis Head got a thick edge off his willow as Joe Root took a sharp catch at the slip. 

The likes of Usman Khawaja and Cameron Green were looking to take the game away from the hosts by adding a decent partnership of 49 runs before Ollie Robinson got rid of Cameron Green with a tricky delivery. Green had the option to defend the ball or to leave it.

Amid confusion in his mind, he was chopped on the line and made a mess of his stumps. It was indeed a disappointing way of getting out. He departed after scoring 28 runs.
