South African cricket team are locking horns with the Pakistan cricket team in the ongoing edition of the ICC Men's ODI World Cup 2023 tournament. The game is currently being held at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Pakistan captain Babar Azam won the toss and decided to bat first.
Abdullah Shafique for a cheap score. The right-handed batsman's body language didn't look to be promising from the get-go as he consumed too many deliveries before the relentless pressure got the better of him in the fourth over.
The Green Shirts got off to a sloppy start as they lost their opening batterMarco Jansen sensed that the batsman would aim for a six or a four after a slow start. As a result, the left-arm fast bowler pitched in with a back-of-a-length ball to the right-handed batsman, who played right into the hands of the pacer, only to hit the ball straight into the hands of Lungi Ngidi at deep backward square leg.
Marco Jansen also provided another breakthrough by dismissing another opener, Imam-ul-Haq for 12 runs. The left-handed batter was looking in good touch with the bat, smashing two fours during his stay at the crease. During the sixth over, Marco Jansen delivered a full and wide ball to Imam-ul-Haq.
In response, Imam-ul-Haq reached out for a drive but got an edge and the ball flew towards Heinrich Klaasen at gully. He took a sharp catch, which brought Imam-ul-Haq's innings to a close. He departed after scoring 12 runs.
