On Day 2 of the second Test between India and New Zealand at Pune’s Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, New Zealand all-rounder Glenn Phillips made an instant impact with the ball, disrupting India’s batting order by dismissing Rishabh Pant and Yashasvi Jaiswal. In a key moment, Phillips, who only bowled a handful of deliveries, managed to claim two crucial wickets, further tilting the game in New Zealand’s favor.

The day began with India on the back foot after an early dismissal of Virat Kohli, who fell to a surprising low full toss from left-arm spinner Mitchell Santner for just 1 run. Shortly after, Phillips took charge, striking with his fourth ball of the Test. He sent overnight batter Yashasvi Jaiswal back to the pavilion for 30 with a neat delivery that was edged to slip, where Daryl Mitchell made no mistake.

Phillips’s second breakthrough came shortly after as he bowled Rishabh Pant, who had looked promising early on.
