England's man of the moment, Alastair Cook has became the fifth overall batsman to score a ton in both debut and farewell Test matches.

Fairy tale finish for Cook's International career @ICC[/caption] England's opening batsman Alastair Cook has announced his retirement from all forms of International cricket before the start of fifth Test between India and England. Even though the opener had many troubles through out the series, he is having an amazing farewell Test match right now. Before this match he has crossed 20 runs only twice in eight innings in his series. But in Oval the things are completely different. In the first innings the former English Captain has scored 71 runs which was appreciated much regarding his form in last six months. But Cook didn't stop with that knock in first innings. He has carried his good touch in second innings too. Cook has registered his 33rd century in Test cricket. With this ton he becomes the first English player and fifth overall player to score century in both debut and farewell Test matches. Simultaneously Cook's both tons have came against the same opponent. The left hander made his Test debut against India in 2006 in Nagpur. He remained not out in 104 in that match. The last person who did this magic was Indian former captain Azharuddin. The previous four players who achieved this unique feat are Reginal Duff (AUS), William Ponsford (AUS), Greg Chappel (AUS) and Muhammed Azharuddin (IND). Further Cook has became the leading run scores in the list of left handers in Test cricket history by over taking Kumar Sangakkara when he crossed 76 runs in second innings. Cook will finish as the fifth-highest run-scorer overall, after Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting, Jacques Kallis and Rahul Dravid.
