The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi is thinking of selecting legendary cricketer Waqar Younis as an advisor.

Waqar would be in charge of the board's cricket operations, according to sources within the PCB. He will answer immediately to Mohsin Naqvi.

A media source claims that the PCB Chief also intends to assign Waqar Younis duties pertaining to cricket. The PCB chairman is free to delegate as he sees appropriate, and rumour has it that Waqar will oversee the board's cricket operations with Naqvi's approval.

Waqar has served as head coach twice and as an assistant coach three times while playing for Pakistan. Following the 2019 World Cup, he served as bowling coach for the Pakistani side under Misbah-ul-Haq's coaching staff.

Later this year, Naqvi is anticipated to succeed Jay Shah as President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). Jay Shah, Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), is the current ACC president, having been elected to a one-year extension in January. The ACC presidency is rotated every six months.
