Sri Lankan all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga has been ruled out of the remaining ODI series against India after sustaining a hamstring injury. Hasaranga, who played a crucial role in Sri Lanka’s tied game last night with the bat and bowl, picked up three important wickets. Including the crusal wicket of Virat Kohli, but appeared to be in considerable pain during his final over.
The injury is a significant blow to Sri Lanka, as Hasaranga's performance has been instrumental in their recent matches. Despite his injury, he managed to deliver a commendable performance, contributing to Sri Lanka’s competitive stance against India. However, medical reports have confirmed that he will be unable to participate in the remaining two games of the series.
In response to Hasaranga's unavailability, Sri Lanka has called up another leg-spinner Jeffrey Vandersay as his replacement. Vandersay is expected to fill the void left by Hasaranga and add depth to the bowling attack. His inclusion aims to bolster Sri Lanka’s chances of securing a series win against a strong Indian side.
