Sri Lanka has announced a 15-member squad just a day ago before the Asia Cup starts. Star all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga, who is suffering from injury, is not in the squad. However, Kusal Perera, who was suffering from Covid-19, is on the team.

Almost all regular faces including Pathum Nissanka, Charith Asalanka, Dhananjaya de Silva, Kusal Mendis have got a place in the team's batting unit. Despite the doubt over Kusal Perera, he has been kept in the team. However, it is not yet certain whether he will play in the first match.

However, Sri Lanka is in trouble with the bowling unit. Several bowlers have been sidelined due to injuries one after the other. Tested players like Dushmantha Chameera, Lahiru Madushanka and Lahiru Kumara are not in the team. Dunith Wallalage, Maheesh Theekshana, Matheesha Pathirana, Kasun Rajitha, Binura Fernando, Pramod Madushan got places. Also, Dushan Hemantha has been taken as Hasaranga's replacement.

Sri Lanka will play in this year's Asia Cup along with Bangladesh and Afghanistan in Group 'B'. Dasun Shanaka's team will start their Asia Cup campaign with a match against Bangladesh on August 31.
