It was a thriller of a game in the first match of the double header on Sunday. Kolkata Knight Riders beat Royal Challengers Bangaluru by only 1 run. However, Virat Kohli has been fined 50% of his match fees due to breaching the code of conduct of IPL.

In pursuit of 223, Virat Kohli gave RCB a flier of a start. But it didn't last long as a loppy full toss from Harshit Rana got him out on 18 from 7 balls. Virat Kohli showed dissent towards umpires decision and he was seen furious on umpires as he was expecting this to be a no-ball. But umpires were adamant to their decisions and Virat was showing his grudge on umpires.

As a result, he now ends up being fined by BCCI. Virat Kohli has been fined 50% of his match fee for showing dissent towards the umpire's decision following his dismissal in RCB's defeat against KKR on Sunday.

"Mr Virat Kohli, Batter, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, has been fined 50 per cent of his match fees for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during Match 36 of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata on April 21, 2024," IPL said in a statement. As per the IPL statement, Kohli committed a Level 1 offence under Article 2.8 of the IPL's Code of Conduct. The former RCB skipper admitted to the offence and accepted the Match Referee’s sanction. "For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee's decision is final and binding," the statement added.

RCB is stuttering on number 10th after winning only one game and losing all the other 7 matches and their chances to qualify for the top four has become a bleak now.
