Kurtis Patterson has been included in Aussie Test squad for Gabba ahead of the Sri Lanka series.

The 25 year old Patterson stroke back to back hundreds in Hobart Pink ball tour match against visiting Sri Lanka. The NSW blues batsman hit 157 not out followed by another 102 not out against the subcontinent opponent for a Cricket Australia XI. Chief selector Trevor Hohns said in a statement,“Kurtis has been pushing his case for selection for some time, he has been a consistent top order player for New South Wales, was a member of the Australian A tour of India prior to the commencement of our summer, and was most recently selected to compete in the day night tour match against Sri Lanka in Hobart."

"Kurtis has joined the squad in Brisbane today to commence our preparations for the first Test starting on Thursday," he said.

The NSW Blues batsman thus joined Joe Burns, Matthew Renshaw and Will Pucovski as new faces in Australia's Test squad after the side lost to India 2-1. The hosts have had running through a poor Test series with the bat against India as no Australian batsman could reach to hundred mark in a four Test match series since 1882-83 series. The first Test -- a day-nighter -- starts Thursday in Brisbane. The second will be played in Canberra.
