South Africa thumped Ireland by 174 runs on Friday (October 4). Tristan Stubbs' maiden international hundred [112* off 81] with Kyle Verreynne's 67 off 64 deliveries helped South Africa post a massive 343 on the board. In reply, Lizaad Williams picked up three wickets, Lungi Ngidi and Bjorn Fortuin had two wickets each to fold Ireland up for a paltry 169 runs.

Opting to bat first, the proteas had a terrific start, adding 78 runs on the opening stand before wicketkeeper batter Ryan Rickelton fell to Curtis Campher on 40 off 39 deliveries. Captain Temba Bavuma too departed soon after.

Rassie Van Der Dussen then scored some runs under his belt, however he couldn’t make it a long innings as he fell on 35 off 39 balls. And then Kyle Verreynne and Tristan Stubbs stitched a fantastic partnership together, smashing a 103 run stand between them to uplift South Africa. The former one, however departed after scoring the fifty but the latter one was there till the end of the South Africa's innings.

Wiaan Mulder scored a fluent 43 off 34 balls at the backend of the innings, while Stubbs scored his maiden international century, scoring a brisk 112 off 81 balls and South Africa posted a mountainous 343 on the board.

In reply, Lizaad Williams ran riot through the Irish batting lineup, removing Andrew Balbirnie, Curtis Campher and Stephen Doheny from the top and Ireland gone out of the track.

The proteas kept chipping away with wickets and Ireland had no answer as they never were in the chase and ultimately they folded up for a measly 169 runs and lost the game by 174 runs.
