Bangladesh surrendered helplessly in the last match of the World Cup. The Tigers ended their World Cup campaign by losing to Australia by 8 wickets. Allan Donald's chapter as the pace bowling coach of Bangladesh ended with this match.
Donald's chapter was great for Bangladesh. Although the pacers of Bangladesh failed to shine in the World Cup, the performance of the pacers until the World Cup was excellent. The pace unit of the Tigers has improved a lot under the hugely popular coach Donald. Donald has worked closely with many pacers including Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, Ebadot Hossain. There has been some improvement in everyone's performance.
Tigers pacer Taskin Ahmed once again praised Donald during his farewell. Speaking to the media in the mixed zone after the Australia match in the World Cup, Taskin said, “He (Donald) looked after us wonderfully. Good or bad. He always supported and encouraged us. I enjoyed working with him a lot. This is the professional life. Everyone will go, come. Best wishes for his future.”
Taskin told Donald in the middle of the World Cup that he realized the biggest test of his life. In that regard, Taskin added, “I was playing with an injury. I couldn't get the rhythm. Margins were small. Overall it was a tough tournament. But there was a tear in my shoulder, I had to deal with it. The performance was not as good as expected. Whenever it got better, my performance in the team was very effective. When I was not up to the mark in bowling, it affected the team. You all pray that I stay fit.”
After returning home after the World Cup campaign, the Bangladesh cricket team will enter the field in the Test series against New Zealand after resting for a few days.
