T20 World Cup 2024: Rishabh Pant stuns cricket fraternity with a reverse scoop six against Ireland

Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant made a stellar comeback to international cricket after a career-threatening injury which he encounter in late December 2022. Pant had to be out of competitive action for a long time before he finally made a comeback to IPL 2024.

Rishabh Pant who came out to bat at No.3 played the game with a lot of intent in the run-chase against Ireland at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. The left-hander scored an unbeaten 36 off 26 balls with the help of 3 fours and 2 sixes at a strike-rate of 138.46.
The highlight of his aggressive game play peaked when he executed a sensational reverse-scoop, which saw India open their account with a win as they beat Ireland by 8 wickets. Ireland medium pace bowler Barry McCarthy pitched the on a good length which was angling across Pant and the latter quickly played an audacious reverse scoop for a six that made the onlookers go in awe.
It was certainly not an easy shot to play at all but Pant made it look so. Meanwhile, former Australian captain Ricky Ponting, who witnessed the serene shot at the commentary panel gave his views on the special shot.
"We shouldn't be surprised. We've actually seen this in Test cricket as well. It was against James Anderson with the second new ball. Just helped him on his way. It's one thing practising in the nets and then going on to do in a World Cup match. He's been good today. Just what Rishabh Pant needed at the start of this World Cup," Ponting added.
