Former Australian batter Stuart Law has been appointed as the head coach of Nepal’s men’s team on a two-year deal, taking over from Monty Desai, whose tenure ended in February. Law brings a wealth of coaching experience to the role.

He recently worked with the USA men’s team and has previously served as head coach for Bangladesh and West Indies, while also taking on interim coaching roles with Sri Lanka and Afghanistan.

His coaching journey includes guiding Bangladesh Under-19s and leading the senior team to their first-ever Asia Cup final in 2012. Back home in Australia, he has held several key positions, including batting coach for the national team, a role at Cricket Australia’s Centre of Excellence, and coaching the Under-19 squad.

Law’s stint with the USA men’s team came to an abrupt end in October 2024, lasting just over seven months. Despite his short tenure, the team achieved significant milestones under his leadership, including a historic T20I series win against Bangladesh and a maiden Super Eights qualification in the T20 World Cup. 

Under Monty Desai's leadership, Nepal recently secured a 3-0 T20I series whitewash against the USA, just months after their second T20 World Cup appearance in June 2024, where they went winless in three games. Earlier in 2024, Nepal also dominated Canada with a 3-0 ODI series sweep at home. In 2023, before the ODI World Cup, they made their ODI Asia Cup debut but failed to register a win. 

Stuart Law’s first assignment as Nepal's head coach will be a tri-series against Scotland and the Netherlands in June, part of the World Cup League 2 fixtures. Nepal currently sit second-last in the tournament’s standings.
