Sri Lanka are firmly in control of the Chattogram Test with 455 run lead
Bangladesh were bowled out for only 178 runs and were trailing Sri Lanka by a mountainous 353 runs. Only Mominul offered some resistance today, he was solid but others didn’t stay with him. Sri Lanka are way ahead of Bangladesh after the day 3 in Chattogram test. Bangladesh were bowled out for only 178 runs and were trailing Sri Lanka by a mountainous 353 runs. Angelo Mathews held Sri Lanka together amidst a top order collapse.
Earlier, Bangladesh started decently as nightwatchman Taijul Islam and Zakir Hasan strung a brilliant partnership. Zakir notched up a fifty but Vishwa Fernando removed him to open up the accounts. Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto failed yet again as Prabath Jayasuriya got him out for 1 off 11 balls.
Nightwatchman Taijul held on there for a long portion of time but couldn’t make it big as Fernando had him for 22. Litton - Shakib - Mehdy - Shahadat Dipu all failed miserably and Bangladesh were at strife at 148-7. Mominul Haque fought hard but didn’t get support from middle and lower order and he succumbed to death after scoring a gutsy 33 off 84 balls.
All the Sri Lankan bowlers chipped in with wickets and gave Sri Lanka breakthroughs at regular intervals. But Asitha Fernando was the pick of the bowlers as he scalped 4 times in the innings which aided Sri Lanka wrap up Bangladesh's innings for 178 runs.
Sri Lanka didn't start their innings in the best way possible. Hasan Mahmud chopped on Dimuth Karunaratne, while Khaled Ahmed had Kusal Mendis. Mathews and Madhushka held on for a while to handle the initial blow before Hasan got Madhushka out.
Khaled - Hasan combined demonstrated a fast bowling masterclass to leave Sri Lanka at a strife at 102-6, but eventually their first innings mountain have taken them to another level in this test. They're 455 runs ahead of Bangladesh.
