Sri Lanka Cricket has introduced new policies regarding the retirement of players from international cricket and their participation in domestic leagues.

Sri Lanka Cricket has introduced a new set of guidelines for the Sri Lankan international players who are with an intention to retire from the game. The policies are also applicable for their participation in various domestic leagues across the world.

According to the new policies from the cricket body, players have to convey their intention of retirement to Sri Lanka Cricket, three months earlier. Those three months will serve as a kind of notice period for the players.

Following the retirement, players had to go through a waiting period of six months to get NOC's for their participation in various domestic leagues across the world. And the players need to play in 80% of domestic games in the previous season to make their selves eligible for the Lanka Premier League.

The decision has been taken after the sudden retirement plans from Danushka Gunathilaka and Bhanuka Rajapaksa. The earlier announced his retirement from Test cricket while the latter announced his retirement from all forms of international cricket.
