Bangladesh cricket team have returned home after a successful series. Bangladesh won the ODI series by 2-0 against Ireland in Chelmsford, England. Najmul Hossain Shanto won the player of the series award due to his excellent performance throughout the series.
The first match of the three-match series was washed away by rain. Bangladesh got a great victory chasing 320 runs in the second match. In the last match, Tigers again defended 274 runs and got a thrilling victory by 5 runs. Shanto believes that the lessons learned from these two matches will be useful against big opponents on the big stage of the World Cup.
Shanta faced the media back home. There he said, “The match in which we chased 320 runs was very good for us. In the match again we defended (274 runs), I think both matches are important for our World Cup. Such a situation can happen in the World Cup against big teams. We got two kinds of feeling, how to defend and how to chase. Keeping this in mind, if we can play the upcoming matches, then it is good for our team.”
Shanto added, “Chasing 320 runs and defending 274 will help us. 320 can be chased on a big stage against a big team. Again, if the batting is bad one day, the bowlers also need to know how to defend short totals. It will help us a lot.”
Apart from this, Shanto also said that he implemented the team's plan in batting, "I don't think I played with too much risk. It was our plan. I planned and played as they said. I always think about how to bat aggressively. Not only me but our team plan is how we can bat with good intent. I try to play according to the situation.”
