New York Lions set a formidable target after being put to bat first. They posted 126 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in their 10-over innings. The charge was led by opener Upul Tharanga, who smashed 40 off 23 balls, and former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina, who played a blistering knock of 53 from just 28 deliveries. Ben Cutting added a late cameo with 12 off 7 balls to help New York set a challenging total.
Shakib, leading Los Angeles Waves, failed to make an impact with the ball, conceding 18 runs in his only over without taking a wicket. His bowling partners, Tymal Mills and Pankaj Kampli, managed to grab one wicket each.
Chasing 127, Los Angeles Waves had a shaky start as opener Stephen Eskinazi was dismissed for a golden duck off the first ball of the innings. Shakib, coming in at No. 3, appeared uncomfortable at the crease while Adam Rossington took the charge at the other end. Shakib eventually fell for 13 off 16 balls, leaving his team struggling at 28/2. Despite Rossington's 31 off 15 deliveries, the Waves couldn't recover, losing wickets at regular intervals. Tim David (19* off 10) and Joe Burns (17* off 9) tried their best in the final overs but fell short of the target, finishing at 107/7 in their 10 overs.
The New York Lions clinched the win by 19 runs, leaving Shakib and his team with much to ponder.
