Shakib's all round excellence rewards Sheikh Jamal a convincing victory over Gazi Group

Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club beat Gazi Group by 39 runs on Wednesday (27th March). Opting to bat first, Shakib and Ziaur Rahman’s dual fifties gave them 233 runs to defend. In reply, Mrittunjoy and Shakib's brilliant bowling handed them an easy win.
Batting first, opener Saif Hasan and Shaikat Ali added 44 runs on the opening stand. Both of the openers couldn’t long their innings despite getting great starts. Number 3 batter Shakib Al Hasan then stitched a 50 run stand with Fazle Rabbi. Shakib was fluent and played some delightful shots and as a reward he notched up his maiden fifty of the DPL season. He played a fine innings of 53 off 65 balls smashing 6 fours and 2 sixes.
After the departure of Shakib, Sheikh Jamal had a mild collapse and at one point they were stuttering on 144-6. But Ziaur Rahman and Taibur Rahman had a stand of match saving 86 runs which turned the match for Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club. At the end of the innings, they posted 233 runs in alloted 50 overs.
In reply, Gazi group lost their opener Habibur Rahman earlier of the innings. On team's 45, they lost another opener in Anisul Islam. After the departure of Anisul, the wickets kept tumbling. Mrittunjoy ran riot through the Gazi group's batter and teared them apart. Skipper Mehdy Maruf just could manage to score 35 runs off 48 balls before being trapped to Saif Hasan for a LBW. However they never were in the chase and ultimately lost the match by 39 runs.
Mrittunjoy Chowdhury picked up 3 wickets, while Shakib was miser and bowled an economical spell after picking two wickets. Taibur Rahman also had two victims to his name and Sheikh Jamal had a convincing 39 run victory.
