Bangladesh star all-rounder and captain Shakib Al Hasan has received great news before the start of their mission in the T20 World Cup in Australia.
Shakib lost the top spot in the all-rounder ranking to Afghanistan captain Mohammad Nabi in the last Asia Cup. However, the Bangladesh captain regained the number one position with the double fifty in the tri-nation series held in New Zealand.
Shakib was in rhythm even though Bangladesh did not do very well in the tri-nation series. He couldn’t play in the first match of the series due to flight complications. Then, he scored 16 runs off 16 balls in their second match against Pakistan. After that, in the last two matches of the series, Shakib scored two fifties for Bangladesh.
Against New Zealand, he scored 70 runs from 44 balls at a strike rate of about 160. He hit 8 fours and 1 six in this innings. And in the last match against Pakistan, he scored 68 runs from 42 balls with seven fours and three sixes. As a result, after playing two great innings, the Bangladesh captain has come up to number one in the ranking of T20 all-rounders with a rating of 266.
Losing the top spot to Shakib, Nabi has dropped to second place with a rating of 246. Meanwhile, Namibia's JJ Smith has risen to the fourth place in the list of all-rounders by showing good performances with bat and bowl against Sri Lanka and the Netherlands in the ongoing T20 World Cup.
