Shakib Al Hasan is once again at the center of attention in Bangladesh cricket. His contributions were vital in Bangladesh's 10-wicket victory in the Rawalpindi Test against Pakistan, where he claimed three crucial wickets in the second innings to help bowl out Pakistan quickly.

However, while Shakib was in Pakistan, a murder case was filed against him in Bangladesh. The case, registered at Mohammadpur's Adabor Police Station, also names former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and many other Awami League leaders and activists. Among the accused is former Awami League Member of Parliament, Shakib Al Hasan. Despite this, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has stated that Shakib will continue to play as long as he is not proven guilty. Additionally, the BCB has pledged legal support to Shakib in this case.

According to a report by the national daily Samakal, the BCB sought advice from the government and legal experts regarding Shakib’s situation. The consensus was that he should continue playing international cricket and avoid returning to Bangladesh for the time being. Shakib is not expected to return home anytime soon.

Furthermore, Samakal reports that after the ongoing Test series in Pakistan, Shakib will head to the United Kingdom to play county cricket. After the second Test in Rawalpindi, Shakib will join Surrey County Cricket Club in England to play a four-day match. The BCB has confirmed that Shakib has been granted a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to participate in the county cricket match, which will take place from September 9 to 12 against Somerset. Following his stint in county cricket, Shakib is expected to join the Bangladesh team for their tour of India, scheduled for mid-September. Bangladesh will play two Tests and three T20Is in India, with the first Test set to begin on September 19 in Chennai.
