Shakib suffered the injury while fielding in the second match of the ICC ODI Super League match against Ireland in Chelmsford, England. He could not play in the last ODI of the series due to injury. Since then, the world's best all-rounder is undergoing an injury rehabilitation process.
Due to injury, Shakib is unable to play in the ongoing Bangladesh-Afghanistan one-off Test at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. However, despite not being able to play, the team got the company of Shakib from time to time. Even after spending some time in practice with the team, Shakib started the process of returning to the field.
In Shakib's absence, Litton Das is leading the team in the Dhaka Test. He made his debut as Bangladesh's twelfth Test captain in the match.
