Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been actively participating in different franchise leagues over the years. However, Shakib's participation in this year's Indian Premier League created a lot of controversies after he skipped his national duty to play in the tournament. The incident brought blame to the cricket board, too, since the Bangladesh Cricket Board allowed him to skip Bangladesh's Sri Lanka tour by giving him the NOC. Meanwhile, the upcoming season of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) is scheduled to be held from 28 August to 19 September 2021, and Jamaica Tallawahs have picked Shakib for the tournament. Bangladesh have a hectic schedule at that time, taking into account they are expected to host Australia, with England and New Zealand scheduled to follow. So the question arises whether the cricket board will allow the poster boy Shakib if he demands to play in the tournament. Although BCB hasn't decided anything in this regard yet, Akram Khan has hinted that Shakib is unlikely to get permission saying they expect to field a full-strength team for those matches. "We have not taken any decision about it (NOC for CPL). When the time comes we can take a decision in this regard. We certainly want to play against them with our full-strength squad," BCB cricket operations committee chairman Akram was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz. Moving forward, however, we may see a different scenario as well, unlike the previous incidents, acknowledging the BCB is supposed to add a few new clauses in the contracts for the national cricketers as mentioned by the BCB president previously.
