Earlier, Pakistani Right-handed stylish batter Babar Azam, was reinstated to the captaincy job, replacing his fellow teammate Shaheen Afridi, who had led the team for just one series. There were concerns regarding the internal tensions and possible friendship issues between Babar and Shaheen following this sudden change in leadership from Pakistan Cricket Bord (PCB).
Despite the shifting rumours, Pakistan's star fast bowler, Shaheen Afridi, has categorically rejected any conflict among the team. Afridi assured fans and the media that there is no unhappiness or dissatisfaction over the leadership change. His statements were intended to eliminate doubt and highlight the team's relationship between players.
Talking about Afridi's short capacity journey, Pakistan got thrashed 4-1 by New Zealand in January. However, two months later, Babar Azam was again given the captaincy role.
"Sometimes, small disagreements happen in every family, even among brothers. But there's nothing like that in our team," Afridi said.
"Our players listen to each other, and we listen to them too. Our job is to play cricket and bring joy to our nation."
"We aim to play with unity, and this is not the time for arguments or disputes. It's the time for everyone to be on the same page," he further added
Pakistan's forthcoming four-match series against 2022 T20 World Cup Champions England, which begins on May 22, will test their sense of unity. On June 6th, they play their first match of the T20 World Cup against the USA.
