Bangladesh have dugged in superbly on the first day of Jamaica Test. Shadman Islam's gritty fifty has helped Bangladesh get out from the trouble as Kemar Roach with the new ball blew away Bangladesh's top two to put them reeling at 10-2. But Dipu and Shadman bailed Bangladesh out.

It was relentless rain in Jamaica and only 30 overs was possible to play. The wet outfield too was a major concern behind the late start. Bangladesh skipper Mehidy Hasan Miraz won the toss and opted to bat first. The pitch had seam and the seam movement offer rocked Bangladesh earlier on.

Kemar Roach ran riot through the Bangladeshi batting lineup and had two batters earlier on. Roch removed Mahmudul Hasan Joy for cheaply, and then had veteran batter Mominul Haque for a six-ball duck.

Opener Shadman Islam and Shahadat Hossain Dipu stitched a gutsy partnership of 59 runs which helped Bangladesh swallow the early blow.

Shadman Islam, however, brought up a fine fifty and scored 50* off 100 balls.
Bangladesh are now on 69-2, whereas 50 came from Shadman Islam. Both Shadman and Shahadat are there on the crease and they'll be hoping from this duo to get them a 100-run stand.
